In the few months since October 7th, there has been far more reporting about the humanitarian situation of the people in the Gaza Strip than about the human suffering in the Ukrainian combat zones during roughly two years of war. The 150 to 200 soldiers who die there every day also attract little attention.
Since its founding in 1948, Israel has been subjected to false accusations and unfair resolutions by the United Nations. With this partiality and discrimination, the world organization is demonstrably violating its own charter principles and counteracting its peacemaking mission. It is impossible to truly understand the ongoing hatred in the Middle East conflict as long as one narrows the view to the region, because it is by no means just about the conflict between Jews and Arabs in Palestine.

The Israeli counter offensive in Gaza in retaliation for the October 7 Hamas attack is highly rectified - but doesn’t lead to the solution. As a phenome with psychological roots, terrorism cannot be ended by military means alone.
The magnitude of the number of victims in the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 tempts people to react with similar wrong decisions as after the New York attack on September 11, 2001. Terrorism as an expression of bitter rebellion should not be confused with regular war which can be ended by using military means.
